Senior Staff EMI Engineer

Type (Full-time, part-time etc.): Full-time

Reports To: Director of Systems & Applications Engineering

Location: Toronto, San Deigo or Raleigh

About Us:

As part of a small, fast-moving, innovation-focused company, the Senior Staff EMI Engineer will work closely with the Systems & Applications Engineers to design and evaluate reference designs that meet EMI specifications.

About the Role:

Your key responsibilities follow:

• Define best practices for reference designs to meet EMI requirements
• Collaborate on reference design development with Applications Engineers
• Set up and perform Conducted and Radiated EMI testing within internal lab
• Set up and perform Conducted and Radiated EMI testing at external labs such as UL
• Modify Internal EMI test setups as needed to deliver correlated results with external
vendors as much as possible
• Collaborate with Bench Automation engineer to automate testing
• Create EMI evaluation reports
• May require occasional travel (up to 2 times per year for 2 to 5 days)

About You:

Required Skills and Experience

• >12 years experience
• Experienced at defining & designing reference designs that meet conducted and
radiated EMI specifications (such as CISPR 32, CISPR 14)
o Working knowledge of IEC 62368 as it pertains to EMI (X-capacitor discharge
time constraint, Y-capacitor leakage current, etc).
o Knowledge of medical/industrial design constraints a plus
• Experienced at addressing conducted and radiated EMI issues
• Familiar with CMCs, Low current and high current Beads, component selection,
shielding, magnetics and board layout techniques to drive conducted and radiated EMI
down
• Experienced with EMI diagnostic techniques such as using sniffer probes
• System-level application experience with AC/DC & DC/DC power ICs desirable
• BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
• MS in Electrical Engineering preferred
